Full Definition
Google's threshold for a good LCP score is under 2.5 seconds; scores above 4 seconds are rated poor. The largest element is usually a hero image, a full-width banner photo, or a large video poster frame. On dealership VDPs, the primary vehicle photo is almost always the LCP element, and uncompressed stock images from OEM feeds are a frequent cause of poor scores. Serving properly compressed, next-gen image formats (WebP) and using a CDN are the most reliable fixes.
Why It Matters for Your Dealership
A slow LCP score directly reduces your rankings in Google's results and degrades the buyer experience. Shoppers who wait more than 3 seconds to see a vehicle photo abandon the page at a measurably higher rate, cutting your lead conversion before you have a chance to compete.
